Join Christin Ripley, of Studio'n the Round, in this exciting 2-hour Suminagashi Paper Marbling workshop! Learn the 1,000 year old Japanese technique of "floating ink"- Using finely ground pigments to create floating patterns on water, then captured on a sheet of paper. Please wear garments that can be stained with ink, or bring an apron! This workshop can be paired with the Ebru marbling class at 3pm for an all day submersive marbling experience!
Provided tools and materials:
Each participant will work in their own 18"x25" vat.
Sumi brushes, suminagashi ink, oxgall, dispersion agents, and paper.
Rubber gloves and drying rack.
Each Participant will take home 12-25 of marbled paper.
Once you have learned the technique- the possibilities are endless! You can make books and cards, marble on hand made paper, or even fabric! Pictured is an example of using your paper to make hand-made books.
