This year, the site is excited to offer new Winter Tours on the same days as the Sunday Salons. Visitors will get a sneak preview into the behind-the-scenes installation of the Parlors Project, which integrates a meticulous historic restoration with interactive audiovisual technology to bring to life the two main parlors of Thomas Cole’s home. The project will reveal the only known interiors designed by Thomas Cole, the founder of the first American art movement, the Hudson River School of landscape painting. The interiors include recently discovered original decorative painted borders by Cole himself and reveal another facet of Cole’s artistic vision that was previously lost to history. Tours will be held in the Main House at 1:00pm and 3:30pm on the same days as the Sunday Salons. Please note, tours are for your eyes only and photography is not permitted. The Parlors Project will be completed and open in May 2017.
Tickets for the Sunday Salons and the Winter Tours are purchased separately. Enjoy just a tour, or just a lecture, or enjoy the afternoon at the historic site and purchase tickets for both at thomascole.org/events.
Please meet on the porch of the Main House of the Thomas Cole National Historic Site.
