About Katryn Bowe:
Katryn Bowe is a Brooklyn-based artist who celebrates the mysteries of nature through detailed water color paintings. She has exhibited in London, Los Angeles, New York and her work is held by private collectors on six continents.
Katryn approaches painting as a language to deconstruct and communicate the complex systems that underpin nature. Katryn is drawn to organic forms with fractel-based structures, intricate topographies and transcendent patterns.
With regard to style, Katryn pushes the watercolor medium towards photography by using tiny brushes and saturated pigments. Restrained and monochromatic palettes often define her work, but she is exploring more colorful spectrums as well. These approaches, however uncommon in watercolor, convey the complicated structures inherent to nature. Before discovering painting in 2016, Katryn focused on sustainable investing and development economics. She has co-founded a fin-tech startup and worked at an investment firm in Mexico City and various non-profits related to water-policy. She holds an MA from Johns Hopkins and a BA from University of Pennsylvania and is self taught regarding art.
